General Guidelines for the VETartNOW @ AVMA Convention Art Show

Below are the updated guidelines for participating in the art show. Please review them carefully to ensure your submission meets all requirements.

1. Eligibility & Submission

  • One Piece Per Artist: Each artist may submit one artwork only.
  • Size: Prefer artworks smaller than 36 inches; larger pieces will be evaluated separately because of size limitations of the art gallery location on site.
  • Submission Deadline: All entries must be submitted by June 1(subject to possible extension).
  • Theme: The theme for this show is “Anything Animal?”—artworks should creatively engage with any aspect of the animal world.
  • Selection Process:
    • An internal committee will make the final decision regarding participation.
    • The VETartNOW committee will review submissions and approve approximately 40 works for the exhibition (this number could be increased based on committee considerations).

2. Artwork Requirements & Sales

  • Ownership & Sales Options:
    • Artists can choose to donate their artwork for display or sell it privately.
    • In the case of a private sale, the artist is responsible for managing the shipping arrangements as detailed below.

3. Shipping & Liability

  • Shipping Responsibility:
    • The artist is responsible for all shipping expenses, including sending the artwork to the exhibition and its return.
    • Alternatively, if the artwork is sold, the buyer may assume the shipping costs.
  • Liability:
    • Artists accept full liability for their submitted artwork, covering any damage or loss during shipping or while on display.

4. Awards & Recognition

  • Top Three Awards:
    • The top three selected entries will be featured on the future JAVMA official cover, offering exceptional exposure.
